"Home" has gone from Brisbane, Buenos Aires, Philadelphia, Boston, Bruxelles, Paris, Singapore, Zurich… to Munich.
The lovely thing about life is that it has a mind of its own. As much as we try to plan, there is a huge chunk of life reserved and dedicated to the unexpected.
The challenge of life is learning to welcome the unexpected with open arms. Offer it coffee, and have a good chat.
As Neale Donald Walsch once said: “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone”.
If somebody would have asked me a decade ago where I see myself in ten years from now, I don’t think it would have been in the kitchen of an artisan ice cream parlor in Munich. Ten years ago I was still swiveling in my office chair, dreaming about saving the world while munching on candy bars.
So here we are: home in Munich-Haidhausen. Making truly artisan ice cream.
The best part about making truly artisan ice cream is that you are in complete control to be creative. We spent years learning the art and science behind creating ice cream recipes, which is what allows us to experiment with ingredients, and create signature flavors.
So, in 2014 we wanted to pay homage to our new home. Haidhausen is where our entrepreneurial journey began. It is where we welcomed our first customers, and where we are home.
Haidhausen is more than “just” a section of Munich. Bias aside, it really is the nicest part of Munich. It is green, it is local, it is sincere and it is familiar. Where else can you spend your days strolling through unique boutiques, enjoying the sun in an outdoor café, and going swimming in the river? How wonderful is it to be able to sit along the Isar at sunset, and have a BBQ with friends?
So we created: Haidhausen. A lavender ice cream (which we infuse overnight), swirled with a homemade blackberry coulis.
Light, fragrant and distinctive, it pairs handsomely with Grand Cru Chocolate, or Black Currant Sorbet.
Home, sweet home (no pun intended)
